Robby is an accomplished songwriter; the primary composer behind The Lionfish's two studio albums Jonesin' For You (2016) and You Won't Keep Me Down (2018). He also released a solo EP, American Still, in 2020. He is influenced by a wide variety of genres, from rock to funk, jazz, pop, and folk.
Robby has composed for many groups, including the Fairfield University Jazz Ensemble, the Fairfield University Bensonians, the Fairfield University Glee Club, the Purchase New Music ensemble, and the Purchase Percussion Ensemble. He composes pieces blending classical, jazz, folk, and rock influences to create a unique compositional voice. He is the primary composer behind the Catholic mass setting "Mass For The Journey," and composed the score for Theater Fairfield's award-winning production of the play "A Kid Like Jake." Robby also composes commercial scores and jingles.
Robby's most recent project is "American Still," a self-produced concept album. It has elements of classical music, jazz, folk, and rock, combining to offer a fresh musical perspective on today's world, and is supported by a stellar cast of musicians from the NYC area.
Robby is an accomplished arranger as well, having arranged many songs in many different genres for jazz ensembles and choirs. Robby specializes in a cappella arrangements, and his arrangements can be heard on the albums of the Fairfield University Bensonians.
But Now I See
Performed by the Fairfield University Glee Club, But Now I See is an arrangement/adaptation of many different spiritual style pieces: Sign of the Judgement; Swing Low, Sweet Chariot; Go Down, Moses; Shackled and Drawn (Bruce Springsteen) with Psalm 96; Lift Every Voice and Sing; and Amazing Grace. This performance is from the Fairfield University Glee Club Concert "A Star Spangled Showcase."
